Artist Jacelyn Orellana demonstration

The Art Center’s Vibrancy Initiative calls to “broaden and deepen the Art Center’s community connectivity” (pg. 2) and to “experiment with “on the road” pop-up offerings to be located throughout the Waterfront and City” (CSD #1. 1. e. pg. 5).

The Art Center is continuing to broaden outreach and collaboration with community and arts organizations, both for profit and not-for profit. Torpedo Factory Art Center is a resource for all Alexandria.

On the Road Exhibitions:

The Art Center has a vast collection of professional artists, all juried through a competitive process. These artists represent the Art Center and Alexandria. Artwork from these artists may be exhibited in your public venue(s). View an example memorandum of understanding for On the Road Exhibitions here. Venues are required to insure the artwork and provide professional art installation and shipping. To inquire, contact [email protected].

Community Exhibitions at the Art Center:

Site Two Community Gallery is located on the 2nd floor of the Art Center. It highlights community-focused exhibitions from local partners and organizations. The Site Two Community Gallery offers a compelling space for exhibitions by non-Art Center related organizations, artists, or curators, to help promote an outward looking Art Center with broad and deep connectivity to the community. Exhibits are mounted for a duration of two to three months four times a year, depending on demand. Learn more here, including how to apply.

Community Pop-up Activations:

The Art Center has a vast collection of professional artists that represent the Art Center and Alexandria. These artists were selected for their quality of art, as well as their ability to interact with the public. Additionally, as being part of the City’s Office of the Arts, we offer a larger portfolio of opportunities for Pop-up Activations including artist demos, hands on projects, and more. A value of the Art Center is that artists should be paid for their time and talent. To inquire, contact [email protected].

Host your Non-Profit Event at the Art Center:

Torpedo Factory Art Center is a prime location for events, a unique facility on the waterfront in the heart of Old Town. Event rentals support our mission, public programing and maintaining low studio rent, however we recognize a need for non-profit organizations to also have equitable access to the Art Center. Non-profit pricing is available. Click here to learn more.

Community Partnerships:

The Art Centers is continuously experimenting with partnerships that expand equitable access to the arts, creativity, lifelong learning, and vitality. If your organization has a partnership idea, please contact [email protected]. Please express how it might related to our Vibrancy Initiative.
