Jennifer Dunbar’s Exhibition “Elemental”
Printmaker's Inc. presents new reduction woodblock prints by Jennifer Dunbar. Jennifer takes inspiration from her experience of place and uses a vocabulary of shape and hue to immerse the viewer in the feeling of a setting. "Elemental" explores the experience of woodlands, caves, deserts, flowering fields, and underwater landscapes.

Torpedo Factory Art CenterSeptember is a special month for two diverse communities in Alexandria. It is the celebration of Enkutatash (Ethiopian New Year) in the Ethiopian community, a large population in Alexandria’s West End, as well as the start of Hispanic Heritage Month honoring the Latin American community, a vibrant population comprising a vital part of Alexandria’s Arlandria neighborhood.

Workshops on the Waterfront: Natural Inks with Saya Behnam
Enjoy a free workshop or live demo with a Torpedo Factory Art Center artist at the Waterfront entrance of the Art Center. In this workshop, Saya Behnam (Studio 229) will show the quick and preliminary steps of getting inks from some plants and flowers and introduce some pigments and minerals to get their colors. She will prepare the primary colors such as Yellow (from the dried Weld), Red (from Brazilian wood tree bark), Blue (from Cobalt stone powder), and Purple (from Cochineal, which is an insect that grows on some cactus) and other colors. Attendees can observe her create these on paper.
