Local production company Through the 4th Wall has been commissioned by the Torpedo Factory Artists’ Association to stage the next evolution of their award-winning original immersive play — A Dream Within A Dream: Madness.
The Torpedo Factory Art Center welcomes back the Washington DC Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH to host the 43rd Annual SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival Showcase in Alexandria, Va. This festival showcases some of the most dazzling and innovative collection of submitted works selected by a distinguished jury of computer graphics experts and specialists.
This documentary traces the life and work of charismatic painter Jon Imber. Despite his ALS, a degenerative condition, adversity only makes him more determined to paint. His undying passion for painting leads him to create more than 200 portraits in four months.
As a 2016 Post-Graduate resident in Studio 12, Danielle Smith focused her work on her personal experiences as an African-American woman. Her figurative paintings tell stories surrounding pivotal life moments leading to identity fragmentation from childhood to adulthood. Her current focus on young black girls examines their pressures to absorb or reject Eurocentric aesthetic ideals as they form and reconstruct their adult identities. During her three-month residency, she experimented with watercolor and oil to investigate how these two opposing media interact. Come hear her speak about how Alexandria inspired her work, her process, and what she's learned over the course of her time at the Torpedo Factory.

On Alexandria's most festive weekend of the year, the Torpedo Factory joins the merriment with its annual Holiday Festival. After the Scottish Walk and before the Holiday Boat Parade of Lights on the Potomac, the Torpedo Factory Art Center will be open for visitors who want to buy handmade, one-of-a-kind unique and artful gifts.
