In Studio 224 of the Torpedo Factory Art Center, Rosemary Feit Covey’s passion for connection and storytelling shines through her printmaking. Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Rosemary has cultivated a remarkable career, with her work housed in renowned collections such as Georgetown University Library, whose special collections has over five-hundred and fifty of her engravings in their permanent collection. Rosemary’s work is also featured in the National Museum of American History, Yale University Art Gallery, and The Evergreen Museum in Baltimore, among others.

Recently, her art was selected for two prestigious venues: the Marc Hotel, chosen by Art Commission President Brian Kelley, and the Kreeger Museum’s DC Collects DC exhibition. “It doesn’t have to be a place where the art is for sale,” Rosemary reflected. “Just knowing my art is out there and people are seeing it makes me happy.”

As an artist, juror, and mentor, Rosemary thrives on creating connections within the art world. Her experience judging the Arts Alliance regional exhibition and a regional debate competition in Annandale has deepened her appreciation for emerging talent. “Judging is my way of giving back to the community,” she said. “Being part of this process and seeing such a diverse group of artists and smart students was magical.”

Her work blends technical mastery with deeply personal narratives, exploring themes of memory, identity, and the human experience. “Art is a way to reach people,” Rosemary shared. Whether through her engravings or her interactions with visitors, she constantly seeks to connect. One memorable moment involved a studio guest who revealed they were a third-generation collector of her art—a testament to the enduring impact of her work.

In addition to her recent accolades, including being a Trawick Award finalist and a solo exhibition at Morton Fine Art, Rosemary remains dedicated to pushing new boundaries in her craft. With her engravings spanning international exhibitions and public spaces, her art sparks connections, inspires conversation, and leaves a lasting impression on all who encounter it.
