Christine Cardellino uses acrylic paint and mixed media to explore ideas that engage her. Most often she finds inspiration in literature, history, science and mythology, but all her work is related by underlying themes having to do with the very human need to make sense of one’s world and life.
While her paintings are dominated by graphically recognizable images, they develop in a manner more typical of abstract work. Her approach is investigatory, and she begins a piece with no preconceived notion as to its final state. Cues and clues emerge as the painting takes on a life of its own.
