24"x36" acrylic, paper, and graphite on wood
Inspired by post-impressionism with a focus on color and line over realism, I spend my days painting in my studio in Alexandria, Virginia. My pieces tend to have an inherent softness and stillness about them; a quiet moment in a loud and busy world. Allowing my pencil lines to show and often adding paper or wax crayon to my paintings, they become a true harmony of color and texture.
I have a B.A. in Studio Art (Painting & Drawing) from West Virginia Wesleyan College and an M.F.A. in Costume Design from The University of North Carolina School of the Arts. While in college I also spent a semester abroad in Florence, Italy studying art at the Scuola Lorenzo de’ Medici. After spending some time working in the theatre world, I joyously returned to my original love: painting.
My art and design work have been shown in both the U.S. and abroad. I currently live and work in metro-Washington, D.C. with my husband and our two cats and am a member of the Torpedo Factory Artists' Association.
