Sculpting Spaces: Where Art Meets Architecture
AIA Northern Virginia and the Torpedo Factory Art Center kick off National Architecture Week with a talk on the ways that Art and Architecture converge, featuring Matt McConnell, a sculptor and designer with degrees in Architecture and Industrial Design and commissioned works for residential, commercial, and public art projects. Part of the Torpedo Factory Art Center’s Community Partnership Program.

Sheryl Oring: I Wish to Say
Studio 8 - New Project StudioAs part of National Poetry Month, the Torpedo Factory Art Center hosts Sheryl Oring's I Wish to Say in the New Project Studio. I Wish to Say grew out of Sheryl Oring's concern that not enough voices were being heard about the state-of-affairs in this country and her belief in the value of free expression that is guaranteed under our Constitution. For this project, Oring sets up a portable public office - complete with a manual typewriter - and invites people to write postcards to the President.
BunnyFest 2017: Spring is in the Hare at the Torpedo Factory
Torpedo Factory Art CenterCuddle up to a cottontail and heart some art at the Torpedo Factory Art Center's BunnyFest. Thinking outside the Easter basket, Factory artists Tracie Griffith Tso (Studio 22 and 19), Lisa Schumaier (Keenthings Studio 16) and Betty Grisham (Studio 17) create handmade original work with bounce.

Meet George Washington University's Art Therapy 2017 graduating class and take part in a creative storytelling workshop. Explore the Fundred Dollar Bill Project as they bring their ongoing project to the New Project Studio. Meet your local Alexandria Library and hear about their Alexandra Reads project. Welcome Story District, the critically-acclaimed DC storytelling program, to Northern Virginia in anticipation of their first-ever Virginia event here at the Torpedo Factory on June 23. Visit our friends in the Alexandria Archaeology Museum all night as they share stories about artifacts from Alexandria's past. As always, EatsPlace has the beer and victuals.
