Printmakers Inc is proud to present Samantha Lee Shelton’s solo exhibition titled "Multi-Spectral". The exhibit features several new aquatint etchings, monotypes, and linocuts from 2019 to 2021. Shelton showcases both multi-colored hand pulled prints and also three mini-series of body of works including 1) Crazy about Cats, which highlights several linocut portraits and block printed merch, 2) Implements of Oppression, which etchings subjects include objects used by societies and Governments to suppress various peoples over time and which was inspired by the Black Lives Matters movement, and 3) Pandemic Portraits, a 4 set series of hand colored aquatint etchings inspired by the Pandemic and the isolation experienced during the health crisis here in the US.
Printmakers Inc, studio 325, is hosting an artist talk with our current solo show artist Samantha Lee Shelton. Sam will discuss her recent body of work. You are invited to learn more about the etching process, invented in the middle ages, and how Sam uses acid to bite into the metal plates, which are then used to make beautiful tonal and textural prints. Refreshments will be served.
