An exhibition of student work will be on view in Studio 8 and the main hall for the culminating exhibition for the 2016 Mentor’s Program, organized and hosted by the Friends of the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Each of the participating students spent this school year partnered with one of the Torpedo Factory’s resident artists to develop their skills and techniques.
Meet the students and their resident-artist mentors for a reception on Saturday, April 9, 12 - 2 pm.
Artworks exhibited in “Orbit” will focus on the cycles we each endure because of the different pulls in our lives.
Teresa Oaxaca’s recent paintings explore themes of clowns, dolls, human effigies, and painted faces. She explains that the work for this exhibit “integrates the human passions and emotions with allegorical storytelling.”

Main-based Lisa Kellner’s work is intended to be immersive, Using silk organza in a painterly process, she sews thousands of bulbous shapes and creates structures that seem to grow from the walls and ceiling. The work will envelop the entire gallery in a room-sized singular form.

The Torpedo Factory Art Center is closed for New Year's Day, Easter, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
