Every second Friday, enjoy gallery talks, artist receptions, music, live performances, hands-on artmaking, and three floors of open artists' studios. In February, spread love through art, music, and healing arts.
Choose from hundreds of handmade bowls and ceramic works donated by potters in Scope Gallery, Montgomery Potters, and others at the Art Center. Each purchase is good for one cup of soup. Proceeds benefit United Community Ministries, a social-services nonprofit in Alexandria.
Artist Jamilla Okubo leds a panel discussion about black women artists and the role these narratives play in the community, particularly in the greater metropolitan area. Stay after for networking. Space is limited, early registration is suggested to guarantee seating.
As featured in the 2018 HBO Documentary We Are Not Done Yet, Community Building Art Works serves veterans, military personnel, and members of the community through generative creative-writing workshops. For our March Factory Flow event, we welcome the creative arts group the Omi Collective. This class will feature both yoga and sound meditation practices.
The Teen Winter Art Contest is a self-expressive, visual art contest created by the Alexandria Library for painters and photographers in middle schools and high schools throughout Alexandria. All award winners will be showcased at the Torpedo Factory Art Center from Sunday March 3 - Sunday March 10.

Capital Area Photographers hosts its Second Annual Photo Competition and Critique. Photographers grow in their craft when they get open and honest feedback. Whether photographers win or not, most of them walk away with a new perspective on their work and a wealth of knowledge and inspiration.
