As she enters her final month at the Torpedo Factory, Post-Grad Artist Lyric Prince shares about her experiences in the Post Grad Studio (Studio 12) in conversation with Liz Georges, board member at Arlington Arts Center. Hear about Lyric's art studies, her professional work so far, and how this residency has inspired her work.
A zine (short for “magazine”) is a small-circulation self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images, usually reproduced via photocopier. The current selection of zines was created by artists from TEN09 (@ten09print), a collective of printers, bookmakers, and zinesters from George Mason University’s School of Art, and curated by Christopher Kardambikis (@c.kardambikis), GMU Assistant Professor and Director of Navigation Press (@navigationpress). Join us for a reception honoring these artists at our Friday March 9 Late Shift Art Night, 9pm.
The Washington DC Chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH in collaboration with the Torpedo Factory Art Center presents Geospatial Mapping with Craig Brower and Isaac Zaworski of VRICON. Isaac and Craig will conduct an interactive discussion on all things geospatial to include, how geospatial mapping technology, along with satellite imagery, has changed the face of traditional mapping techniques as well as how the technology has become part of our everyday lives. From cell phones to satellites, we will explore how geospatial mapping has changed the way we view our world.
Cultural and public spaces are where social values can be expressed in real time. Three panelists, Ronit Eisenbach, Philippa Hughes and Khara James, will share their experiences with the design of various cultural spaces.
