Too Hot to Handle

August 1 @ 11:00 am - September 1 @ 6:00 pm

Handled sea green and hot-edged stoneware server by Scott Kaye of Arlington, Va.

Naked raku contrast vase by Amanda Traub of Alexandria, Va. Her work will be available in Fire On-Studio 22 from August to September 2024.

Original eco-print card images are made from sun exposure of seasonal foraged leaves and plants by Elke Seefeldt of Arlington, Va.

Toasty works add to a sizzlin’ summer of love as artistic inspiration is aglow in pottery and glass.

Kilnloads of creations add spice to life in the form of wares with metallic luster accents and sparkling crystals. Stoneware settings for the table display ragin’ glazin’ and fiery spirals. Woodfired drinkware for espresso, whiskey and cold brew breaks a sweat.

Glass trays, bowls and platters are kilnformed, aglow with swirls and layering. Translucent trickery, brilliant ribbons and pigmented prisms result in overheated intensity.

Sweltering temperatures create sun prints of blooms and foliage on original cards and wall art. Ecoprint compositions feature crisp silhouettes of ginkgo leaves, redbud and seasonal plants.

Tiles and trays offer imagery of red hot cardinals and fiery dragons, adding smolder to decor.

Fire On Studio 22 offers various treatments of glass and pottery the first floor of the Torpedo Factory Art Center 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
