The Torpedo Factory Art Center will host the Hayfield Hawks HS Robotics Team and the TC Williams HS Robotics Club as they prepare for the 2015 FIRST robotics challenge. An overview of this year’s FIRST challenge project will be presented and the robot created by last year’s Hayfield Hawks team will be on display.
Guest speaker Christopher P. Rahaim, Ph.D., P.E., the Science and Technical Advisor for the Federal Aviation Administration, will present an overview of the latest 3D illustration and visualization technologies used for concept development. Following the presentation, students will break out into brainstorming groups where they will use a wide variety of materials from markers and drawing pads, to foam and duct tape to formulate and illustrate their ideas. Assistance in brainstorming will be provided by Torpedo Factory Artist Association members Christopher Erney and Guy Jones with support from the DC SigGraph organization. The students will reassemble at the end of the evening to share their new concepts and mock-ups with their peers.
For those interested in learning more about FIRST Robotics, how to participate or be a mentor, there will be Hayfield team members available for questions throughout the evening.
