In Creating Parametric Lamps, artist and designer Braden Perryman will show participants how he pairs principles of geometry and logic with visual programming language Rhino+Grasshopper to design unique, organic lamps that draw inspiration from nature. After the principles of parametric design and digital fabrication are explained, participants are invited to participate in the creative process by assembling prefabricated laser cut components to create their own lamps. Finally, participants can further customize their assembled lamps by adding color, pattern, and texture to the surface of their lamp.

This seminar is designed through creativity between the Institute for Creative, Arts, and Technology at Virginia Tech, Expressions at Amazon Arlington, and the City of Alexandria’s Office of the Arts.
