Fire On Studio 22 at the Torpedo Factory Art Center presents “Cloud Dancer,” a winter exhibition celebrating Pantone’s boldly minimalist 2026 Color of the Year. In a delightful ironic twist, the world’s color authority has declared that 2026 belongs to… white. Not ivory, cream or eggshell but gloriously, unapologetically white.

Artists are having the last laugh, as white has been a foundational canvas for millennia.

“Cloud Dancer” showcases the subtle sophistication of white stoneware and porcelain, atmospheric glazing techniques and ethereal effects that prove white is far from vanilla.

See silky porcelain at the height of elegance that seem to float with weightless grace yet boast unquestioned durability. Marvel at pitfired vessels where smoke and flame leave whispered traces, creating celestial swirls reminiscent of cumulus formations at sunset.

Find kilnformed glass in a pure icy white finish or marbled and juxtaposed with clear and cool hues. Diachomatic glass jewelry is studded with mesmerizing metallic flecks and iridescence. Find fantastical flowing hearts, milky trays and creamy accents echoing a quiet magnificence.

See white accents and detailing in oil compositions, eco-prints and wall-hung 3-D creations. Floating feather and ginkgo leaf silhouettes shine from depths of indigo. A white deer glows in a forest as light and dark play. Snowy scenes of animals and landscapes say more with less.

Tracie Griffith Tso @traciegriffithtso takes center stage with her masterful white stoneware works, where delicate Chinese brushwork dances across pale surfaces. Original paintings in oil by Briana Camp @bripants shimmer with accents that glow. Scott Kaye @scottkayepottery speaks to minimalism in miniature pots and classic functional dishware. Brian Grow @b.d.grow explores atmospheric woodfiring effects, where ash kisses white clay in spontaneous, natural gestures. Elke Seefeldt @rayelke offers smoky piltfiring and playful porcelain with an organic sensibility. Sandi Martina @sandimartina_glass manipulates glass with vision, both frosted and clear echoing the soft, diffused light of overcast days.

Come for the cheeky celebration of “color” that isn’t color. Stay for stunning proof that white contains multitudes—from the crisp bite of fresh snow to the soft embrace of fog, from the sharp clarity of winter sun on porcelain to the mysterious depth of moon-glow effects.
