Join painter Cindi Lewis as she discusses her inspiration and process for her series “Homestead Elegy.”
The paintings in Cindi Lewis’s “Homestead Elegy” series explore a late 19th-century homestead. The decrepit interior of the house (no longer occupied) and its extensive, unorganized accumulation of possessions acquired over three generations provide a fascinating glimpse into homestead life. The sharp contrast between the cluttered interior and the openness of the surrounding North Dakota landscape is also reflected in the exhibit’s paintings.
