Confluence Necklace

Confluence: A coming or flowing together, meeting or gathering at one point.

The Confluence Necklace, created from a 1928 archival map culled from the Library of Congress, was inspired by the contours of the Anacostia and Potomac Rivers as they flow together cradling the District of Columbia. It is a celebration of democracy.

I’m honored to have been juried into a year-long studio space at the Torpedo Factory at the confluence of these rivers.

It is hand-sawn and slightly hammered for texture; therefore each piece is completely unique.
