Exhibit of 18th century shoes recently excavated from 220 South Union Street

Take a step into the past with Alexandria Archaeology’s new exhibit of leather shoes. Check out the sizes and styles worn by early Alexandrian residents: from tiny pointed soles made for children to large rounded men’s varieties. Plus, learn how early shoes were made without a right or left!

Visit on Wednesday, April 6th between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. when Val Povinelli, Colonial Williamsburg Foundation journeyman shoemaker will explain 18th century shoe construction as he analyzes this amazing new discovery.
