True to its title, “The Adventure” evokes surprise, wonder, and excitement in viewers as they explore a series of surreal environments and fantastical architectures. Using paper, ink, and glue, David Alfuth constructs exotic worlds in black and white for this exhibit of 3D collage.
About the artist: David Alfuth has taught art to students from kindergarten to 12th grade since 1970. His work in 3D collage began when he was creating a lesson plan on surrealism. The exercise captured his interest and grew into several ongoing series. The drawings in his collages are photocopied from sources like the Bloomingdale’s Illustrated 1886 Catalog. He received his arts education degree from the University of Wisconsin.
