Ghostly glass, frankenstein forms and witchy pictures haunt the haul at Fire On Gallery.
Glass and clay artists have dipped into the cauldron of creativity and extracted an array of frighteningly original art. See edgy yet inviting brutalist baskets from potter Brian Grow. Glimpse wisps of magic in glassworker Sandi Martina’s marbled, layered misty pieces. Bikki Stricker introduces somber, cryptic variations to her crystalline-glaze platters, vases and mugs as they revel in midnight blue.
See spectral silhouettes of flora on an indigo canvas with eco-prints from Elke Seefeldt of Arlington, Va. Look evil in the eye of clever, cagey kitties and tempt fate with an arsenal of shot glasses and whiskey tumblers.
Fire On hosts artist Mayfox in October, who offers fresh incised and sculpted work, functional pottery and sardonic-ironic patches, pins and wall art.
Also join in on frightfully good fun during the Torpedo Factory Art Center’s Annual Art Safari on Saturday, October 19 noon to 4 p.m. for the children’s Clay Exploration hands-on activity and potter Scott Kaye demonstrating live throwing on the pottery wheel located on the first floor in front of Fire On Studio 22.
