You are invited to attend the second in a series of Saturday STEAM workshops provided by the American Geosciences Institute in collaboration with the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Participants will explore the many interdisciplinary ways that the arts can support STEM education—an approach that adds an “A” for arts to STEM, making STEAM.
These workshops will allow visitors to interact with artists at work and give educators background to make interdisciplinary learning connections with your students. Anyone is welcome to take part; all teachers of grades K-8 are strongly invited to attend. Education resources (posters, packets, etc.) will be provided. You can attend one or all of the workshops in the series.
The workshop is free, but registration is requested.
If you are a K-8 teacher, please let us know when you register! Teachers who attend the full afternoon workshop will receive a stipend from AGI and a one-on-one training portion after the artist workshop.

Workshop Location
The Torpedo Factory Art Center is located at 105 N. Union Street in Alexandria Virginia and is accessible via metro (take the Blue Line or Yellow Line to the King Street Station). A free trolley from the King Street metro station stops at the art center. For those who drive, public parking is across the street.
Workshop Series Dates
A third and final workshop will be held on Saturday October 20 at the Torpedo Art Factory Center in Alexandria, Virginia. You can attend one or all three workshops.
