Dominique is born in Flanders, Belgium, where she studied ceramics. In 1989 she moves to the Washington area and studies painting at the Corcoran College of Fine Arts.

From 1998 to 2001 she lives and works in Lima, Peru. During that time she paints the "Galapagos Series" after a trip to the famous islands in Ecuador.
From 2002 to 2005 she works in her studio in Virginia, and at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria.

In December 2005 she moves to New Mexico. Dominique and her husband build an off the grid ranch and studio south of Santa Fe.

"I am overwhelmed by the beauty around me and hope some of it will translate in my paintings.
I bought my first horse four years ago. Now we have two horses, two mules and two donkeys on our ranch. Some of them are rescue animals. They have become such a big part of my life and bring me so much joy. No wonder they show up in my paintings. I paint what I love"
