I am a fine art photographer and educator. I photograph in a documentary style observing people, their rituals, habits and everyday life. I observe the ordinary moments knowing that there is the inherent possibility that these moments are extraordinary. My work uses black and white film, a variety of medium format cameras and is printed in the wet darkroom making silver gelatin prints using archival methods at all stages.
Travel and work has resulted in portfolios from Honduras, Bulgaria, Africa and most recently, Cuba. Four trips to the island of Cuba beginning in 2000 has resulted in several portfolios – "Women in Cuba", "Rural and City Life" and my first book published in November 2008, "Cubans – Watching and Waiting". A fifth trip to Cuba in spring 2011 is the subject of a solo exhibit at Multiple Exposures Gallery, 2012.
