The Art League is a non-profit organization in service
to the visual arts. Over the past five decades, The Art
League has provided services to artist and public alike
through instruction, enlightenment, support, and communication
both between artists and their appreciators and among
artists themselves. Occupying about one-fifth of the Torpedo
Factory Art Center, the League operates a gallery, a school,
and a supply store.
The gallery presents the only format (within a wide area)
which offers artists continual opportunity to enter juried
exhibits and to experience the lively competition and
exchange which inspires and challenges. Completely new
shows each month present all original work in a variety
of media and styles created by many excellent artists
of the Washington metro area and beyond. Judges from the
Washington artistic community select the shows from work
entered by many of the League's 1,000-plus members.
