SUMMARY:Spring Revelry
DESCRIPTION:Brushpainted stoneware rabbit blossom bamboo mini pitcher with sculpted bunny detail by Tracie Griffith Tso of Reston\, Va. \nSculptural Spring wood fired floral wall relief by Brian Grow of Alexandria\, Va. \nWhether it be a bunny-centric celebration\, fawning over florals or honoring Earth\, seasonal festivities call for items that bring joy to you and yours. \nAs the Earth awakens\, animal and plant life signals seasonal change. Floral touches call for containers including original wall sconces\, impressed bud vases\, crystalline glazed bottle silhouettes\, rustic organic forms. Stay traditional with pit-fired and horsehair vases\, echoing native-American influences or go East with Asian accented raku and ikebana arrangers. \nBlossom-forward tumblers and tea cups are inspired by the striking D.C. cherry trees as the pink petals find their way onto trays\, teasets and drink ware. Kilnformed glass plates and trays radiate light and are detailed with leaf and floral motifs\, vibrant saturated ribbons and swirled and pooled combinations. Bird activity is soaring\, as they alight on dishes and tiles\, prints and original paintings. \nWhite Dogwood Botanical stained and kilnformed glass panel by Sandi Martina of Woodbridge\, Va. \nGive the environment a hug by embracing reuseable tableware in recognition of Earth Day. Pottery and glass are sustainable home décor choices made from natural materials\, built to last and crafted by local artisans. Substitute styrofoam for stoneware\, trade Tupperware for handmade wares\, opt for porcelain instead of plastics. \nDecorate with eco-prints\, compositions made from natural materials.  These striking plant-based images are from wild dyes and available as cards and original wall art. \nSpring energy is contagious as winter wanes\, so come out\, and find some gaiety at the gallery! \n\nStoneware handled oval offset spiral casserole by Scott Kaye of Arlington\, Va. \n3-D gallery Fire On Studio 22 offers various treatments of glass and pottery and more on the first floor of the Torpedo Factory Art Center 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The gallery’s “Spring Revelry” show runs April 1 through 30\, 2025; closed Sunday\, April 20 for Easter.
