SUMMARY:Burnt Orange
DESCRIPTION:Shino-glazed sculpted torso by Elke Seefeldt of Arlington\, Va. \nWarm dwelling oil on canvas by Brianna Camp of Fairfax\, Va. \nTorched landscape inspired woodfired trough vessel by Brian Grow of Alexandria\, Va. \nIn a retrolicious twist\, artists are following the Fall colors\, centerpiecing richly warm hues. \nArtists singe edges and add highlights with burnt orange. Sculptures are awash with a toasty\, roasty touch and paintings are accented with scrumptious pumpkin. \nBold and brassy finishes make for flashy tablescapes and interior touches. Find sunburnt mugs\, overexposed trays and winsome dishware of wild clay. \nThe unexpected\, contrary color is showcased in animals and plants. Redheaded pandas\, foxes\, goldfish and tigers blend with shades and vessels for candied carrots\, kumquats and mandarins. See prints and still-life compositions with deep daubs of rust and vermillion. \nKilnformed glass “Ring of Fire” bowl by Sandi Martina of Woodbridge\, Va. \nBellied mug by Scott Kaye of Arlington\, Va. \nPersimmons persist and tiger lilies abound. Place bittersweet in a vase with a warm iron oxide finish\, chrysanthemums in crystalline vessels and tuck an orchid or air plant into a handmade hanging sconce. Original oil landscapes and portraiture glazed in warm afternoon rays abound beside brilliant sprigged and splashy dimensional wall tiles. \nEmbrace the hot color and serve orange lentils or a side of jammy yams in a functional\, handmade side dish. Find a server that compliments melony hues or a pitcher that screams citrus. Go retro with jello salad\, jiggles or shots offered on an amber abstract kilnformed glass for a throwback buffet. \n“Crafty Master” Chinese brushpainted fox maple ink on rice paper by Tracie Griffith Tso of Reston\, Va. \nSip a spritz and drink the Kool-Aid in Shino-glazed tumblers and offer a sunset toast to autumn artisanals. \n3-D gallery Fire On Studio 22 offers various treatments of glass\, pottery and more on the first floor of the Torpedo Factory Art Center 11  a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and will be open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday September 12  for the Torpedo Factory Art Center’s  Late Night September event. The gallery’s “Burnt Orange” show runs September 1 through 30\, 2025. \nBring home an original from potters Brian Grow @b.d.grow Scott Kaye @scottkayepottery Bikki Stricker @cerambik Elke Seefeldt @rayelke Tracie Griffith Tso @traciegriffithtso and glass artist Sandi Martina @sandimartina_glass.
