Chug grog, spiced cider, stout or dark beverage of choice in a stoneware tumbler by Scott Kaye of Arlington, Va.
Plunge into mystery and an edgy aesthetic as craft descends into shadows with “Got Gothic?” creations for a otherworldly October at Fire On Studio 22.
Artists bring black into the foreground with pitchy paintings, goth glass and dramatic ceramic forms and finishes. Neutral gets the nod as makers shun color. Raku pottery echoes smoke and scorch with firings resulting in carbon black and monochrome marbled finishes. Creatures of the night crawl the walls of the gallery. Spy sneaky ghoulish faces in glass marbled in oynx and opal.
Cultivating subculture, creations have Victorian accents blended with dark allure. Imprinted vases, freeform vessels beguile yet are soul-stirringly solemn. Crystalline bursts erupt out of the depths of glaze and seductive figural abstracts beckon a body in sculptural statuettes.
Fill a black heart with unconventional functional and sculptural concoctions like marbled rocks that rattle, stoneware sipping cups dripping with jet and architectural sculptural forms with dusky pitfired finishes.
Go with grim glam in interior decor and spine-tingling original oil painted compositions that subdue hues and favor stark contrast.
Out creeps the black cat, rat snake and praying mantis. Striking luna moths flutter onto canvases, bats hang out and birds alight with shady plumage.

Consider ‘Shady Character,’ an ink on rice paper black cat artist-signed limited-edition print by Tracie Griffith Tso of Reston, Va.
See fantastical artifacts from the creative cauldron. Haunt our space, this is prime time for treats, trickery and exhuming eerie, irresistible curiosities.
