Alison Sigethy, known for her kinetic sculptures called Sea Cores, is curating the annual sculpture show at the Athenaeum. Titled Eclipse, this show examines light and shadow, liminal space, and the passage of time. Eclipse will run from January 16 to February 23, with an artist’s reception on Friday, January 17 from 6-8 p.m.
This exclusive event—the Athenaeum’s sole sculpture show of the year—will utilize all four unique areas of the building, including the seldom used lower lever and the courtyard, where Alison’s striking Aurora Towers will be displayed.
Alison selected the participating artists, including Torpedo Factory Art Center artists Lori Katz, Mike Price, Sarah Hood Salomon, Salih Zeki Sayar, and Murat Sener—ensuring a cohesive exploration of color, shadow, and form. Other participating artists include Michael Janis, Uduh Maduka, Carol Prusa, Michael Enn Sirvet, Tim Tate, and Erwin Timmers.
Curating for the first time, Alison shares, “It’s been a fun experience, like a launch pad to experience art in a new way. I’m proud of my artists, delighted to work with such talented people, and eager to share their work with the public.”
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to experience Eclipse—a celebration of contrast, form, and artistic excellence. Be sure to visit studio 335 at the Torpedo Factory Art Center to see Alison’s work!
