Phyllis J. Roderer has been a juried artist member of the Torpedo Factory since 1995 and is a partner of Hollin Hills/Studio 23. She received her art education and training in ceramics, sculpture, painting and drawing at the Alexandria Art League School, Northern Virginia Community College, Penland School of Crafts, the Corcoran and numerous workshops by renowned ceramic artists such as, Phil Rogers, Seth Cardew, Nick Juerling, to name just a few.

Phyllis’ current concentration is in the art of firing with horsehair. She has fulfilled custom orders from across the country and internationally. Her work has received several awards and has been published in Ceramics Today, Schiffer Publishing, and on the cover of the 2011 Potter’s Council Alternative Firing Calendar.

Custom orders ”using the hair from your horse” are always welcome. Prices range from $95 - $300.
