Lane Palmisano is an imaginative oil painter enamored with the lush, luminescent properties of the medium. She is a multi-faceted colorist equally enthralled with landscape, figurative and still life genre. Her recent paintings are evocative landscapes drenched in color. "The land is an entity unto itself. It has its own movement, soul, and expectations." She combines a loose, impasto application using palette knife and brush along with glazing techniques, layering her work with veils of paint. This process gives these paintings an unusual texture and luminosity. Her sensual use of color pays tribute to the art of Turner, Cezanne, and Gauguin. Her paintings are in private and public collections throughout the world.

After 30 years of teaching studio art and 27 vibrant years at the Torpedo Factory Art Center in Alexandria, VA., Lane has migrated to Bluffton, SC., just west of Hilton Head Island.

Currently, Lane has her studio and gallery in her residence and shows by appointment. She is a member of Art Beyond Tradition (ABT), a select group of regional artists showing in Hilton Head, SC.

More importantly, Lane is working on several new oil paintings. Her website includes both large and small works. Recently, painting outdoors "en plein air" has captured her attention. All paintings are oils on deep sided canvases with the sides painted as part of the composition. This presentation gives a finished appearance which does not necessitate framing.
