Born and raised in small towns in Missouri, I have lived most of my adult life in northern Virginia. I graduated with a B.S. in Art Education from Missouri State University and studied painting at The Art League in Alexandria, Virginia.
My work primarily consists of realistic oil paintings on canvas but I also work with pastels, colored pencil, graphite and gouache on paper. I depict a variety of subject matter — still life, landscape, pets, portraits and figures. In my representational work, I often use intricate detail, pattern, transparencies, and reflections. I like to borrow those same elements of glassware and metal to create fluid, lyrical, abstractions.

My prices range from $350.00 to $4500.00. Right now graphite drawings of pets are $350 and people are $500, matted and framed. I consider commissions of all types of subject matter. Oil commissions start at $400 for pets and $800 for people. See my work on the Commissions Page on this website and on my personal website www.bettygrishamstudio.com. There are many, many more examples of my work there.

My days and hours in the studio can vary so please call or email me for an appointment if you wish to visit and/or discuss a possible commission.
