2012 Back-to-School Supply Donation Drive
July 25 - August 28
Sponsored by Community Partners for Children in collaboration with Alexandria businesses
Community Partners for Children (CPC) has kicked off its 21st annual Back-to-School Drive for school supplies.
In partnership with local businesses, including the Torpedo Factory Art Center, CPC is collecting supplies for all age groups to be distributed to students in need in all Alexandria City Public Schools.
Each fall, many Alexandria students of all ages face the prospect of starting school without adequate supplies.
“CPC depends on the generosity of the Alexandria community to help us ensure all Alexandria kids are ready for school,” said CPC Board President Pat Miller. “This drive helps kids who, through no fault of their own, can’t get the school supplies they need. CPC tries to make it possible for any student qualifying for free or reduced-price school meals to have the basic tools many take for granted in order to start the school year right.”
The Back-to-School Drive runs until August 29, 2011. Anyone wishing to contribute may help as follows:
Between July 25 and August 29, donate new school supplies by dropping them off in one of the donation boxes at the locations listed below.
Send a tax-deductible check to support the Back-to-School Drive to Community Partners for Children, P.O. Box 2738, Alexandria, VA 22301.
Volunteer to help sort school supplies on Tuesday, August 30, at Charles Houston Rec Center, 901 Wythe Street. To volunteer, email Kendra at kendrajanedc@aol.com.
