Julia Kwon: More Than A Body

June 14 - August 4

Interdisciplinary artist Julia Kwon creates sculpture and textile art that explore reductive representation, othering, and objectification, in relation to ethnicity and gender as a Korean American woman. Kwon was chosen from nearly 130 artists from across North America for this annual competitive opportunity for a solo show.

Labyrinths and/or Mazes lead us on surprising journeys. Sometimes one is led to success and sometimes one hits a dead end. Our members have pushed their paths and have come up with wonderful results. Found

Fiberworks

July 2 - August 5

Tamara Embrey incorporated many of her found items into her art boxes. Found: sea shells on the beach, antique buttons in Grandma's canning jar, rusty nails and wire from along the road.  Fiberworks' artists find inspiration in found objects to create works of art.

Opening Reception: Friday, October 11 Exhibition Juror: Laura Roulet, independent curator and writer According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, “Memento mori” is the literal Latin translation for “‘remember (that you have) to die”. The purpose of this exhibition is to explore death as a concept and how it affects our lives. Through explorations of entropy/decay, ghosts and paranormal spirits, or personal experiences, this exhibit will contemplate how the inevitability of death impacts us all.
