About Tatyana Schremko

Tatyana Schremko was born in China of Russian-Ukrainian parents, eventually arriving in the USA after several years in Eastern Europe and Germany. She attended the University of Pittsburgh, and received her Bachelor of Arts cum laude from George Washington University. She continued her studies of sculpture in various media with several independent artists, with a focus on foundry work in bronze. Exhibiting and selling in various galleries in the Washington DC area, she has also received commissions for works in private homes as well as portraitures. Her work has taken first place numerous times; she was included in the Slide Projection of World-Wide Modern Art exhibit at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy. The University of Maryland has her work in their permanent collection, and she has her art in public spaces, including the Kaiser Permanente headquarters building in Tysons Corner VA. She has participated annually in the Harbin, China International Ice and Snow Sculpture Competition since 2008. In 2013 she was invited to be one of the six international judges for the ice competition.

Artist’s Statement
“My work is very much influenced by memories of people from every walk of life when thoughts are least observed, a moment of quiet. These sculptures are my most abstract work; their large size and clean lines are designed to focus on this emotional introspection. My representational work is very much involved with capturing the essence and personality in the portrait. I do commissions in portraiture and abstract sculpture for either interior or exterior placement.”
