Some of my fondest
memories from childhood are of my mother and grandmother quilting,
sewing, crocheting, cross-stitching, etc. Growing up surrounded
by fiber, color, texture and craftsmanship ensured my love
of craft and all that it entails.
Not surprisingly, I grew up to be a fiber
artist. Basketry was my first love. Then I took a workshop
from quilt artist Dorothy Caldwell on mark making with fiber
and it was like someone flipped a switch. I suddenly began
seeing finished pieces that combine fiber, text, marks, sewing,
photos, etc.
Currently, I am enjoying playing
and experimenting with various surface design and mark making
techniques to create art cloth.
