Lorraine Oerth
Kirstein
graduated with a BFA in Ceramics from The Philadelphia College
of Art, and has worked as a professional artist continuously
over the past 30 years. Her current interests include architectural
ceramics, and her output ranges from individual decorative
tiles to massive murals and installations. She has also been
an instructor in tile making and ceramics for many years for
The Art League.
In addition to
ceramics, Ms. Oerth travels with a sketchbook, and has an
almost unlimited vocabulary of artistic pursuits. Her work
has earned prizes in ceramics, printmaking, painting and collage.
She has recently
begun a new wholesale business offering her ceramics to shops
and galleries nationally. She also owns a retail art and fine
crafts gallery in Old Town, OERTH GALLERY.
Also, she is
involved with a ceramic mural project being created for The
City of Alexandria's Charles Houston Recreation Center. This
year-long project involves both restoration and the creation
of new mural panels which will be permanently installed at
the center's entrance.
