Mirella Monti Belshé was born and nurtured in Tuscany, Italy. She completed her education with Master of Art History and Master of Fine Arts degrees at the University of Hawaii where she became a tenured Assistant Professor.

In the last 34 years she has had a studio in the Torpedo Factory Art Center. The work fabricated in her studio is done in many media and is both two and three dimensional. She also works in Italy at Pietrasanta and Firenze where, with the aid of master craftsmen, models can become bronze or marble pieces and then return to the studio where they originated.

She has completed several private and public commissions. Her work has been collected and exhibited extensively in the United States and abroad, including embassies, museums, airports, libraries, commercial spaces, and private residences. Two current series of work are Altered Rolling Pins and Book Segments.

Mirella returned from Pietrasanta in June with several new marble sculptures she created there. Also while in Italy she installed twenty six of her Book Segments for display at Ken's Art Gallery on via San Niccolo in Firenze.
